UniSC Student Governance Framework

Student reps ensure your student voice is heard at UniSC

 

The UniSC Student Governance Framework is made up of 18 student-led groups that ensure the diverse student voice at UniSC is heard to enhance your student experience.

Student Representatives:

  • act as a source of productive communication between the student body and the University
  • work collaboratively and in partnership with staff to co-create policies and services relating to teaching and learning
  • inform the University about emerging issues
  • lead initiatives that foster a sense of belonging and positive student experience 
  • report back to the wider student cohort

The UniSC Student Senate is the highest governing student body, and provides regular reports to the UniSC Council.

UniSC Student Senate

The UniSC Student Senate is the highest governing student body, and reports to the UniSC Council.

The Senate works closely with UniSC executive staff to represent the views of all UniSC students.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

The SRC represents the collective views of each school group (SSG) and reports to the Student Senate.

The representatives work closely with UniSC executive staff related to teaching and learning, and leads activities that foster a sense of belonging and positive student experience on the Sunshine Coast campus.

School Student Groups (SSG) for each School

The SSG represents students from each school at UniSC and reports to the UniSC Student representative Council (SRC).

The representatives work closely with Heads of School to provide advice and actively contribute to perspectives with respect to teaching and learning in their school. Read more in the Terms of Reference below:

Student Liaison Groups (SLG) for each campus

The SLG’s represent students from each campus (excluding Sunshine Coast) and reports to the Student Senate.

There is a SLG group for each campus. The representatives work closely with Campus Leads and provide advice and actively contribute to perspectives with respect to the provision of services on each campus.

Postgraduate Student Association (PSA)

The PSA represents the postgraduate student community (HDR and coursework students) and reports to the Student Senate

The representatives work closely with UniSC executive staff and the Graduate Research School and leads activities that foster a sense of belonging and positive student experience in the postgraduate student community.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student Leadership Committee (ATSISLC)

The ATSISLC represent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students at UniSC and reports to the Student Senate.

The representatives work closely with Indigenous Services to provide advice and actively contribute to perspectives with respect to the provision of services to Indigenous Students.

International Student Group (ISG)

The ISG represents international students and reports to the Student Senate.

The representatives work closely with Student Services and Engagement to provide advice and actively contribute to perspectives with respect to the provision of services to International Students.

Disability Inclusion Student Group (DISG)

The DISG represents students with a disability carers and allies, and reports to the Student Senate.

The representatives work closely with AccessAbility Services and actively contribute to perspectives with respect to the provision of services and access for students with a disability.

High Performance Student Athlete Group (HPSAG)

The HPSAG is comprised of student athletes and reports to the Student Senate.

The representatives work closely with the High Performance Student Athlete Program Coordinator and provide advice and actively contribute to perspectives with respect to the provision of services to athletes, as well as promote the sports industry across the University.

Student Guild

The UniSC Student Guild is a not-for-profit organisation that is an independent student group.  
 
The Guild focuses on advocacy and support, student clubs and societies, recreational events, legal support and welfare services. There are two student guild representatives on the UniSC Student Senate.
