Fien Van den Steen Student representation is what Fien feels passionately about; it is a logical part of her story! Inspiring and empowering others to create a more sustainable world is the red herring. Her love for acquiring and sharing knowledge made Fien become a teacher and a research journalist. After years of international journalism, she landed at UniSC in the Sunshine Coast to expand her skillset with a Bachelor of Environmental Management. |

Bailey Wemyss Bachelor of Social Work, Co-chairperson of the Disability Inclusion Group "I wanted to be a Student Representative because changes are made by those who stand up and demand them. UniSC is currently welcoming student input in all aspects of student life, as they should, so now is an excellent time to stand up and let us, the university and your student representatives, know what it is that you're passionate about - what it is that you love about the university, and what it is that you would like to change about the university." |
Jenny Watson Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Co-chairperson of the Disability Inclusion Group "I became a student representative to make positive changes, and improve accessibility and inclusivity at UniSC for students with a disability and therefore the university as a whole." |

Belinda Christensen Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and Science, Co-Chairperson of the Student Representative Council "I became a student representative because I never want to be a person who can see a need and not do anything about it. All students deserve a voice, I want to stand in the gap for those who are unable to voice their needs and opinions. It's such a rewarding opportunity and I'm glad I faced the self-doubt and took the leap and got involved!" |
Teighlor Banks Bachelor of Creative Industries (Creative Writing & Publishing), Co-chairperson of Student Liaison Group Moreton Bay "I became a Student Representative as I feel like there is an under representation of my field of study. I hope that through the work I do I can help other Creative Industry students have their concerns raised by someone who understands the nuances of our study. My proudest moment as a Student Representative was watching my first event I organised come to fruition. Seeing everyone so happy and enjoying themselves is an amazing feeling." |

Jakob Shanks Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Co-Chairperson School Student Groups (SSG) Health and Behavioural Sciences "I became a student representative to provide a communication conduit for students to faculty and provide advice to students based on my experience. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as student volunteers. If you have a problem if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you should contact a student representative. Currently, my proudest moment is coming up with a plan for increased engagement next year. If successful, the implementation of the plan will become my proudest moment." |
Jen Bunn Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Co-Chairperson School Student Groups (SSG) Health and Behavioural Sciences "As the first person in my family to attend University, there have been a lot of things I wish I knew throughout my experience. I want to be able to share these experiences with others and the lessons I've learned. I want to learn from others and pass on all these experiences to make University life something that is exciting and new, something that will help shape our lives and leave us with a confidence within ourselves. It doesn't matter what you did, or what you were, but if you go out there and engage with students, you listen and you help. If you stay in the classroom, you're good, you can study hard. But if you step out that door, you are a Student Rep. My proudest moment as a student rep has been the trust put in me by students to not only listen but to help find solutions to their problems." |

"I'm passionate about advocating for an improved learning experience for my fellow students. I'm not afraid to provide feedback and to pursue matters until they are addressed at the appropriate level. Change can only occur if we speak up about what matters to us." |
Jianne Lamadrid Bachelor of Nursing Science, Co-Chairperson of the Nursing, Midwifery & Paramedicine SSG "I became a Student Representative because I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and interact with people who are on the same journey as me as a UniSC student. Additionally, I aimed to develop my communication and collaboration skills further as they are critically important in my discipline. Lastly, I hope to inspire others to step out of their comfort zone and show how they can effect positive change in others and within the University community. I welcome all students to share their opinions and thoughts about their experience at UniSC so we can make change as a collective." |
Alana Pasteur Bachelor of Nursing Science, Co-Chairperson of the Nursing, Midwifery & Paramedicine SSG |
Stephanie Carvosso Bachelor of Environmental Science, Co-chairperson of the Science, Technology & Engineering SSG |
Luke Trounce "I became a student rep to assist students with their ideas or concerns about the university. I believe all students should have an understanding of the resources and support opportunities that UniSC provides. If you see me on campus (mostly at MB) don't hesitate to say 'hi' and let me know what the Uni could be doing to enhance your student experience." |
