This is what our 2023 winners will be doing on UniSC's

BEST FIELD TRIP IN THE WORLD!

Entries have now closed

Four days chock full of adventure and one-of-a-kind educational experiences in one of the most uniquely beautiful – and ecologically important – landscapes in the world. Did you know UniSC has campuses on three UNESCO Biosphere reserves and the world heritage-listed K’gari? Field trip winners will get to visit all three, which include the Great Sandy (Fraser Coast), Noosa and Sunshine Coast Biosphere Reserves!

A real-life sneak peak of what it’s like to be a UniSC student while traversing through some of South East Queensland’s most famous landmarks and attractions, with UniSC experts on hand at every turn to expand your educational horizons.

We know The Best Field Trip in the World is a big title to live up to.
And we fully intend to nail it.

Suncorp Satdium

Day One

Your adventure begins in buzzing Brisbane, where you’ll check in to five-star accommodation in the heart of Queensland’s capital city.

Enjoy a snack, take in the view, frolic in your socks…but don’t get too comfy in your room, as you’ll soon be whisked to Suncorp Stadium for an exclusive behind the scenes tour with UniSC event and marketing experts.

Next, enjoy pre-match hospitality in a corporate box at Suncorp Stadium where you’ll watch Queensland’s newest NRL team – the Dolphins – take on the Rabbitohs. Cheer your heart out for the Dolphins, as UniSC is their very own education partner!

Day Two

Feast on a buffet breakfast, then travel an hour north to Australia Zoo – where crocs rule.

Located in the stunning Sunshine Coast, Australia Zoo’s team of passionate conservationists work around-the-clock to deliver animal experiences like no other. Enjoy a visit to Australia Zoo and its Wildlife Hospital and eat lunch while watching an action-packed show in the world-famous Crocoseum.

You’ll also get to meet a very special Aussie icon, a marvellous marsupial – you guessed it – the cuddly koala, and the UniSC superhero researchers working to develop vaccines to save them.

Later in the arvo, we’ll welcome you to UniSC’s largest campus, where you’ll get to meet the virtual reality brainiacs of HavenXR – an entertainment and attraction company with studios in Hollywood. HavenXR have a full-scale studio at UniSC’s Sunshine Coast campus, where our students get exclusive access to their virtual reality design expertise.

Then, head to the Novotel Sunshine Coast, a beachfront resort snuggled between ocean and river, before tucking in for some needed shut eye in 4-star luxury.

Beach

Day Three

An adventurous day awaits, but first, it’s time to rise and surf!

Dash on down to a glorious Noosa beach and experience the thrill of surfing with a lesson tailored to your ability, alongside a UniSC coastal erosion expert. You’ll also meet former pro tour surfer and current UniSC Sport and Exercise Science student, Keely Andrew who will give you a few tips to get you up on your feet.

After a well-earned breakfast, you’ll depart Noosa and travel to Rainbow Beach before crossing to K’gari, the world's largest sand island and an area of remarkable natural beauty. This part of the world is an adventurer’s playground, an aquatic lover’s paradise.

After a picnic lunch at Central Station, it’s time for hands-on learning with UniSC’s experts in outdoor recreation and environmental education.

Then, stargazing, because the night sky is oh so divine on K’gari. Phew – what a day, what a glorious, fun-filled, mind-expanding day. Nighty-night from starry Dilli Village.

Sunshine Coast Lightning netball players

Day Four

You may still think you’re dreaming when you awake on K’gari, surrounded by the sweet sound of birdsong.

After breakfast, you’ll bid farewell to Dilli Village and travel back to Rainbow Beach for lunch, then on to the Sunshine Coast where you’ll be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of UniSC’s high performance sport precinct where champions train side-by-side with our students in nationally accredited facilities.

Then become part of the 'Lightning Nation' at UniSC Arena where you watch the Sunshine Coast Lightning take on the Swifts as part of the Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) league competition.

And on that high, UniSC’s Best Field Trip in the World comes to an end. You’ll head home, thanking your lucky stars for experiences that will last a lifetime, with tall tales that (we guarantee) will grow with each telling. One day your grandkids will roll their eyes when you tell them for the billionth time of your adventures when you were their age.

Nailed it.
