The University of the Sunshine Coast welcomed thousands of new students during Orientation Week from 19-22 February.

Students attended four days of activities for the University's main campus at Sippy Downs, including a market day, live music, social events and plenty of workshops and presentations aimed at preparing students for campus life.

USC also staged Orientation events at its campuses at Fraser Coast, Gympie, Caboolture and South Bank, as about 5,000 new students in total gear up for the start of Semester 1 on 26 February.

The Sunshine Coast campus was buzzing for the official welcome ceremony at 10am on Monday 19 February.

It was followed by a huge photo of commencing students, a fast-paced demonstration of Quidditch, market stalls and live entertainment.

For international students, there were special orientation sessions at 8.30am on February 20 and 21.

The Student Guild Day on February 22 featured live music, entertainment, free food and a special display by USC’s koala detection dogs.

Professor Hill said orientation provided opportunities for students to meet each other and to learn academic skills that will assist them throughout their studies.

“It is also a chance for them to find out about the various groups on campus that can help make their student experience here even more fulfilling and enjoyable.”
