Almost 4,800 students have enrolled to start study at USC on Monday 27 February.

This is a record number of new enrolments for the University and will bring the student population to about 13,450 across USC’s campuses on the Sunshine Coast, Gympie, Fraser Coast and at South Bank in Brisbane.

The University now has twice as many students as it had eight years ago (at the start of 2009), and three times as many students as it had 12 years ago (at the start of 2005).

New degrees introduced this year in Midwifery, Recreation and Outdoor Environmental Studies, and a combined Bachelor of Laws/Environmental Management have contributed to this growth.

Other degrees that have experienced significant growth this year have been the Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary), Animal Ecology, Health Science and Nutrition.

New students have been advised that parking spaces in the regulated parking areas of the Sippy Downs campus will be at a premium for the next few weeks.

Students are encouraged to consider using the University’s free carpark on Claymore Road, carpooling, using public transport, walking or cycling to campus, and using the University’s shuttle buses from North Lakes, Caboolture and Gympie.

USC recently resurfaced and linemarked the free carpark, which has added an extra 100 bays.

It also has a TransLink bus transit centre near the centre of campus and a bicycle hub that contains lockers and showers for cyclists to use.
