Supporting para-sport students to combine university study with high level performance in para-sport competition.
The June Canavan Para-athlete Sport Scholarship supports higher education opportunities for eligible University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) students who are focused on combining study with high level performance in para-athletic competition.
As an Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU), this Scholarship aims to attract and encourage para-sport students pursuing higher education. Applicants are to be commencing or continuing full or part time study in their first UniSC undergraduate program and be able to demonstrate high level sporting achievement, potential to continue to perform in para-sport at a high level, academic merit and financial need.
To allow for the busy training and competition schedule of an elite athlete, part-time students are eligible to apply and the scholarship will be paid pro-rata based on enrolment. Continuing UniSC students who meet the eligibility criteria are also eligible to apply, and if awarded, their scholarship will be paid for the remainder of their study subject to terms of the scholarship.
The Scholarship is valued at A$5,000 (paid in 2 x A$2,500 instalments after confirmation of enrolment each semester), for up to 2 semesters, total value up to A$5,000. Scholarship payments will be made approximately three weeks after Census Date for each Semester, once enrolment has been confirmed.
Please note: This scholarship is offered on a yearly basis through funds provided by an external donor. If funding is not available in any given year, the scholarship will not be awarded.
