L and R Foundation Nursing Placement Bursary

Scholarship applications for Semester 2 2023 are now closed.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by close of business, 31 August 2023.

For Nursing students undertaking compulsory nursing placement away from their home locations.

The L & R Foundation, established by Leanne Muller and Robert Hubbard, aims to support tertiary education for regional students who demonstrate academic potential, but face financial and other barriers to completing a degree.

The L & R Foundation Nursing Placement Bursary will assist students undertaking compulsory nursing placement as part of the Bachelor of Nursing Science Program at any UniSC Campus from Moreton Bay to Fraser Coast. The Bursary aims to:

  • Support equity groups from low socio-economic backgrounds with demonstrated financial need
  • Enable recipients to dedicate more time to their studies, with less focus on paid employment
  • Increase retention and encourage academic achievement of students from low socio-economic backgrounds

The Bursary will be utilised by recipients to offset placement related costs, with priority going to students with the greatest equity need and undertaking the longest placements that are the greatest distance from their home residence.

The bursary will be paid in one lump-sum payment of A$2,000 upon commencement of the student's nursing placement in the relevant semester.

Please note: This bursary is offered on a yearly basis through funds provided by an external donor. If funding is not available in any given year, the bursary will not be awarded.
