Accelerate your pathway to university
Australian Defence Force veterans and currently serving personnel have exclusive access to participate in a free pathway program designed by veterans and academic staff who specialise in transition to university study, for veterans. Through the program, you will gain the skills and knowledge to ease your transition into university study.
This intensive program is delivered over a four-week period and includes a combination of online learning materials, face-to-face tutorials at our Sunshine Coast campus and supporting seminars offered online via ZOOM.
Through the Military Academic Pathway Program, you will:
- Brush up on your academic skills to ensure a smooth transition into university
- Learn about the unique opportunities exclusively available to veterans
- Explore career and study options through focused workshops
- Meet like-minded students and teaching staff.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The program has been specifically designed for veterans, by veterans and specialised academic staff, aiming to provide the essential skills and knowledge you will need to transition into and succeed at university.
You will be introduced to the university and the support services available to you, along with learning academic writing, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. The course is specifically scaffolded to capitalise on learning from one topic to the next.
You will learn essential transition skills from academics with experience working with first-year university students and students engaged in alternate pathways into university. You will also hear from our world-class research experts.
When can I study?
Details of the next intake of the Military Academic Pathway Program are coming soon.
What happens next?
MAPP students who intend to study the Tertiary Preparation Program or an undergraduate degree at UniSC can apply direct by the due date. Late applications may be accepted for programs that remain open.
For admission to an undergraduate degree, you must meet the program’s entry requirements for an offer of a place. This includes meeting any subject prerequisites and the minimum selection threshold for entry.
Depending on your prior study, you may be able to apply for credit transfer towards your degree program.

Veteran and UniSC Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering
Each and every ADF veteran at some stage committed themselves to the service of our nation, and upon completion of their service, it behoves us as a community to support their successful transition to a post-ADF career. As a veteran now working in academia, I value the opportunity to ensure that every veteran student at UniSC receives the time, guidance and support that they need to enable their successful transition to a career or study program of their choice.
