UniSC students have successfully won NCP scholarships every year since 2014.
Since its inception in 2014, several UniSC students have been awarded a New Colombo Plan scholarship, with some appointed as an NCP Fellow -- acknowledging the top-ranked candidate for each eligible host location.
The scholars and fellows undertook study, language training, and internships across the Indo-Pacific region.
2023 Scholars
Liana Walsh
Liana is currently completing an internship/mentorship with Sarah Ichioka in Singapore, based around regenerative design in the built environment sector and research with social impact organisations in Singapore. On completion of her internship she will commence a year of university study in Indonesia.
Jorja Schloss
Jorja is looking forward to commencing an 18 month immersive experience in South Korea, encompassing academic study, language immersion and internship opportunities. She hopes the experience will help her to better understand the cross cultural differences in perceptions of mental health and allow her to establish meaningful connections with individuals, institutions and organisations.

Jessica Whyman
Bachelor of Creative Writing
Jessica is currently completing a marketing internship with multinational toy manufacturing and entertainment company, Mattel based in Malaysia. On completion of her internship she will commence a year of university study at two different institutions in Japan.
Jazmynn Partridge-McDougall

Jazmynn is looking forward to starting her NCP journey in South Korea - delayed by COVID, Jazmynn is yet to commence in her NCP Program but we are excited to watch where it takes her in 2023.

Creole (left) aims to study Japanese Language Studies and International Relations at Doshisha University. Creole plans to undertake internships with the United Nations Development Programme and the Australian Embassy in Japan.
Amy Jarrett, Japan scholar
Bachelor of Arts
Amy (right) travelled to Japan in early 2020, undertaking Japanese language lessons at a language institute. Amy was accepted into Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan to undertake Japanese Studies.

Naomi Joyce, Fiji scholar
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours)
Naomi spent a semester at the University of the South Pacific in Suva, where she studied civil engineering courses, Fijian language and completed an honours research project on renewable tidal energy turbines. She then travelled to Vanuatu where she undertook an internship with Engineering Without Borders and supported the development of the Ministry of Health’s Rural Sanitation Guidelines.
Jazlin Younger, Japan scholar
Bachelor of Health Science
Jazlin undertook her NCP Scholarship program in Japan, where she studied human sciences and language studies at Akita International University.
2018 Scholars
Myles Kreis, Korea Fellow
Bachelor of Business/Commerce, Fraser Coast
Myles was appointed as UniSC's first NCP Fellow -- the top-ranked candidate for South Korea. During his NCP Scholarship program, he undertook studies in international business, management, and Korean language at Seoul's Konkuk University and completed two internships with South Korean companies, including with changemaker company Root Impact.
Michael Jefferies, Singapore scholar
Bachelor of Laws/Commerce
Michael completed his NCP Scholarship program in Singapore where he gained international law experience at an elite global corporate law firm, Linklaters. Ranked as one of the world's top universities, Michael studied at National University of Singapore where he also undertook Mandarin language training.
2017 Scholars
Raymart Walker, Japan scholar
Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of International Studies
Raymart (left) completed his NCP scholarship experience in Japan for over 16 months, where he undertook Japanese language training, and studied international relations courses and Japanese studies at two Universities -- Hokkaido University and Akita International University. Raymart completed three internships, including with the Australian Embassy (Tokyo) and the Australia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ANZCCJ).
Joseph Davies, Korea scholar
Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology
Joseph (right) enhanced his business knowledge in the high-tech hub of Seoul, South Korea, and studied at Yonsei University. He completed an IT internship with an environmental not-for-profit group in Korea.
