Siobhan Hooper is a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with a diverse clinical background. During her career, Siobhan has worked in Emergency Departments in rural and remote Australia and a variety of maternity settings both nationally and internationally. Throughout her clinical experience, Siobhan has developed an interest in the promotion of innovative approaches and solutions to enable and support vulnerable populations. While working in the Northern Territory, Siobhan was a pivotal member of a team to develop an Indigenous specific maternity program.
Siobhan transitioned into the academic field in 2016, working as a clinical facilitator. She has since worked as a casual academic, acting course coordinator and in 2022 was appointed Associate Clinical Educator. Siobhan is passionate about empowering students and supporting them while undertaking clinical placements.
Siobhan recently completed her Master of Health Promotion at the University of Sunshine Coast. Her research focused on the impact of childhood incontinence on father’s quality of life. Siobhan is endeavouring to expand this research completing her PhD within this field. Siobhan aims to be a pioneer within this research field and an agent of change in breaking the stigma around childhood incontinence.
Siobhan is undertaking a Policy Fellow with the Australian College of Nursing, due to be completed in 2024. This policy fellow program addresses issues currently faced within the nursing profession, bringing it to the forefront of policy development.
