As a current Environmental Management student, Fien is not at the start of her career. She worked the last 7 years as an International Research Journalist and reported mainly on environmental issues across the world for various print and digital media. Luckily, she speaks different languages and loves to connect facts, people, and insights.

With her previous studies in international research journalism, a Master in Linguistics and Literature and a Bachelor in Secondary School Teaching, Fien has a broad study experience and understanding of the education-labour market nexus. In addition, she grew a passion for gathering and sharing knowledge and empowering others. Her passion, understanding and multidisciplinary background motivated Fien to be highly engaged in student representation at USC.

Besides being a current student member on USC Council, Fien is also Student Senate Co-Chair, and student representative from the International Student Group (ISG) and from the SSG Science, Technology and Engineering.
