Troubleshooting access to databases
Visit known outages and closures to check for current databases issues. Before contacting the library, please refer to the list below of frequently encountered problems.
Try these common solutions for browser issues. If one step doesn't work, move onto the next.
- Refresh the page (F5 on the keyboard)
- Use a different browser to access the resource
- Clear your cache and cookies. Learn how to do this by Googling, 'clear cache' with your chosen browser e.g. 'Clear cache chrome'.
- Restart your device
If you contact the library, you will be asked to complete this checklist before further assistance can be offered.
If you have any questions about your UniSC network login and password, contact the IT Service Desk.
If you are certain your UniSC network login and password are correct, there may be a temporary problem with access to the Library databases. You may contact the library via Tel: +61 7 5430 2804, email LibraryHelp@usc.edu.au or report an issue with access to online Library resources.

Some databases require a database specific password.
Some databases require another password if you are accessing them off campus.
Check the information provided on the A-Z databases page. This will tell you whether the database requires another password or if access is restricted to certain users.
If you need another password see the Additional Passwords (UniSC network login required) on the Databases page, or contact the library Tel: +61 7 5430 2804.
Some databases provide only an abstract or citation for an article. Many databases offer a link to the article in another database.
Check the information provided on the A-Z databases page to see if the database you are using provides full-text.
If the database provides only an abstract or citation for a journal article, check Journals Titles to find out if another database holds the journal you are looking for. Alternatively, you can check the Library Catalogue to find out if that journal is held in print in the Library.
