Services for employers and industry
Student and graduate employment

UniSC students are work-force ready. If you are looking for a student, graduate, part-time, project-based or even voluntary employee you can promote job vacancies, work experience opportunities, your company information and company events on the University’s Student Hub. There is no cost to register and you can add, update, maintain and manage the information directly. Register for Student Hub and submit your vacancies here.

Work experience opportunities

UniSC programs often incorporate practical workplace experience for students through both Work Integrated Learning and the Work Experience Scheme. Partner with UniSC for internships, guided industry projects, work experience, research, practicums, clinical placements, mentoring and/or a combination of workplace-oriented activities.

Assistance and advice on employment issues

The Careers and Employability team keeps up-to-date with industry and employment information and has established links with local employers and industries. If you need a sounding board on employment-related issues, please get in touch.

Industry guest lectures and visits

UniSC has opportunities for industry partners to conduct guest lectures, host site visits and field trips and conduct campus visits with students. We also conduct a variety of iEngage events each year. If you are interested in hosting or participating in an event please submit your expression of interest here.

Graduate career directory

We have partnered with Grad Australia to provide students with information about graduate employers and opportunities. Increase the visibility of your business by creating a profile on UniSC's Career Directory.

Workshops

The Careers and Employability team at Student Central hosts employer visits, industry-specific and career skills workshops. Upcoming events are listed on Student Hub. Log into Student Hub and go to Employability > Careers > Workshops and Events to book your place.

Employ-Ability Blueprint

This workshop will introduce you to some simple strategies you can apply during your studies to enhance your employability, and ensure you leave UniSC qualified and employment ready.

Developing Employability Skills

Connect the skills and capabilities developed in your study program to your future career journey. UniSC Careers and Employability will discuss strategies in critical reflection and techniques to communicate your ‘career narrative’, to make an impression in a competitive graduate marketplace.

Career Planning 

Career planning is a continual process of personal development and transition. Assess your priority areas of need, explore fundamental career development activities to participate in whilst at university and create your careers action plan.

Student Hub

Connect to Student Hub to:

  • Access online resources - including information on upcoming careers events and workshops, templates, guides and useful web links.
  • Search for jobs — new positions are advertised daily on Student Hub. Listed here you will find local, national and international based jobs from casual work during study to exclusive career opportunities for USC graduates.
Resume and job application assistance

Have your cover letter, resume and other job application documents checked. You can submit your documents for review in your own time without having to make an appointment. Go to Student Hub Online job application check and upload your documents. They will be reviewed, usually, within ten working days and returned to you with comments and/or suggestions for change.

One-on-one sessions can be booked for assistance with resumes, job applications, interviewing and job search can be booked through Student Hub.

Career counselling and guidance

If you need assistance:

  • with choosing a career path;
  • with job search skills including job applications and interview techniques; or
  • when considering a change in your program;

a one-on-one session with a member of the Careers and Employability team can help with career planning, goal setting, identifying career options, exploring personality work preferences, job search skills, interview coaching and overcoming career transition issues. Make an appointment on Student Hub for an individual consultation which can be by telephone or by video conference. Log into Student Hub, go to the Appointments tab and select the Career Counselling topic to open up the booking calendar.

Graduate career directory

We have partnered with Grad Australia to provide the latest information on graduate employers, jobs and internships.

  • Browse employer profiles, find out which organisations recruit from your degree discipline
  • Access career fairs and watch recordings of industry focus sessions
  • Engage in 'virtual experiences' and professional development modules designed by employers
  • Read hints, tips and advice articles about careers, jobs and making a successful application
  • Apply for graduate opportunities and internships

Employment support for students with a disability

Have you graduated within the last 12 months or are you expected to graduate within the next 12 months? University Specialist Employment Partnerships is a program preparing and connecting university students with disability to graduate jobs. On campus employment support is available for UniSC students and graduates who identify as having a disability.
A consultant is available for one-on-one on consults. To book an appointment log on to Student Hub. For more information visit the USEP Website.

Resources

A range of career resources are available on the UniSC website, or on Student Hub under the Resources tab. These resources can be used to assist you with career decision making, action planning, industry research, developing job applications, interview techniques, social media and researching the hidden job market.
