Explore

The Explore program offers a creative approach for developing the breadth of students’ career aspirations through a scaffolded suite of lessons for primary school students in Years 4, 5 and 6. Through a series of lessons and activities, students will develop an awareness of their own skills and interests while discovering which skills are necessary for a range of different jobs.
The program is structured to the following themes:

The program includes three lessons for each year group, a Year 5 career expo, and career-themed competitions for art (Year 4) and creative writing (Year 6). The lesson plans and resources are accessed from the Explore program by schools and are taught by class teachers. The lessons have been designed to complement and extend the existing curriculum of the participating schools.

As part of the Explore program, Year 4 students are invited to enter a career-themed art competition. View further details about the lessons, teaching resources and Year 4 budding artists competition.

Year 5 students are invited to attend the Explore Career Pathways Expo at their local USC campus which provides direct hands-on experience of different types of jobs and information about a range of career pathways.

Year 6 students are invited to enter a creative writing competition (Year 6). The competition task is for students to think critically about their desired career and communicate that thinking to an audience in a story.
