Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award 2012

The Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA)is the Grafton Regional Gallery’s biennial flagship art prize, promoting innovation and excellence in contemporary Australian drawing.

Established in 1988, JADA provides an exclusive opportunity for artists to explore the medium of drawing while allowing the Gallery to collect a unique and impressive collection of contemporary Australian drawings.

Judged in 2012 by Dr Campbell Gray, Director of UQ Art Museum, the finalists presented exciting and evocative examples of the best drawing in Australia. The winning work was by Brisbane artist Miles Hall called Eyes closed, searching for noon and night. Other artists in the exhibition included David Fairburn, Wendy Sharpe, and Sunshine Coast artist Ian Gunn.
