Funds available to help USC Moreton Bay students

Future students of USC’s Moreton Bay are invited to apply for financial support as the new campus nears completion for Semester 1, 2020.

USC scholarships and bursaries support people from various backgrounds, by helping to pay for textbooks and other costs associated with attending university, which allows them to focus on their study.

USC Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said scholarships and bursaries aren’t just for high achievers, and he encouraged all USC Moreton Bay future students to consider applying.

“Scholarships and bursaries are also awarded to students who need financial assistance or who demonstrate other achievements such as sporting excellence or community activities,” Professor Hill said.

“If a student has the potential and the drive to achieve their education and career goals, then a scholarship can help them get there by helping to pay for study expenses such as course costs, tuition, books, housing, food, a laptop and transport.”

These scholarships available include eight Moreton Bay Regional Council scholarships, each valued at $8,000 per year for up to five years (to a maximum value of $40,000 per scholarship).

“The scholarships, funded by the Moreton Bay Regional Council, are part of our joint commitment to improving the region’s participation in tertiary education and supporting the leaders of tomorrow to study at USC Moreton Bay,” Professor Hill said.

Another new scholarship, the Rotary Club of Pine Rivers Bursary, worth $2000, is also available.

USC Moreton Bay will open at Petrie for Semester 1, 2020, with a 16,000 square metre state-of-the-art foundation building. It will be Australia’s newest university campus.

From 2020, students can choose from almost 50 undergraduate degrees including Business, Education, Computer Science and Mechatronic Engineering.
