Staff eager to be new faces of USC Moreton Bay

Four new USC employees are counting down the Christmas-New Year period until they become the friendly faces of USC Moreton Bay when it opens in February.

Luke Beazley of Whiteside will lead the Service Centre Team in the University’s foundation building on campus at Petrie in Semester 1, 2020.

His team will include assistants Kate Shipp, Kayla Thornhill and Kit Stewart from across the region.

Luke said he was looking forward to welcoming students, the wider community and fellow staff to Australia’s newest university campus, located in a region where his family lives, works, learns and plays.

“I have lived in the area for 15 years with my wife Rebecca,” he said.

“We have two children who were born at Redcliffe Hospital and attend a primary school in North Lakes, where Rebecca is a teacher and I am chair of the school council.

“Our daughter enjoys horse-riding locally and our son is a keen karate student at his North Lakes dojo.”

The team is currently training at USC Sunshine Coast to prepare for the new roles. Luke and Kit have come from other universities, Kayla has worked as a technician at USC, and Kate studied at USC.

Luke said the Service Centre Team would strive to provide the latest USC information to assist all walk-in inquiries from students, staff and the local community.

“I feel pride and purpose in this community and I’m hoping to connect with people on a deeper level through USC,” he said.

From Semester 1, USC Moreton Bay will offer almost 50 undergraduate degrees including business, education, computer science and mechatronic engineering.

A range of scholarships are available, including Moreton Bay Regional Council Scholarships worth $8,000 for each year of study.
