Money to help study at Fraser Coast and Gympie

Applications are now open for a generous new scholarship to help students study at USC’s Gympie and Fraser Coast campuses, including up to $60,000 for a four-year degree.

Eligible students can apply for a Destination Australia Scholarship for a range of full-time programs from diplomas up to PhDs.

USC is offering 40 scholarships of $15,000 a year for each successful applicant through the new Federal Government program aimed at attracting more students – both domestic and international – to study in regional locations.

USC Pro-Vice Chancellor (Engagement) Professor Joanne Scott said it could be a life-changing opportunity for some who have previously not been able to take up higher education due to financial pressures.

“The scholarships are also a great incentive to relocate to the Fraser Coast or Gympie to experience the high-quality educational opportunities and wonderful lifestyles they offer,” Professor Scott said.

To be eligible, applicants must be new to USC, study full-time at either campus from Semester 1 next year and maintain ongoing residency in the area.

At Gympie, scholarships are open to students starting full-time in a three-year Bachelor of Nursing Science degree.

At USC Fraser Coast, scholarships are open to new students enrolling in Animal Ecology, Education, Nursing Science and Social Work degrees and for business diplomas.

Additional funding will be provided for three PhD scholarships, valued at about $28,000 per year, for one international and two domestic candidates.

Applications will close at midnight Sunday, 19 January.
