Future begins now at Design students’ exhibition

Graduating USC Design students will showcase their work in a stunning future-focused exhibition that will open at the USC Art Gallery at 6.15pm on Friday 9 November.

The show, called Exhibition X: The future begins now, will encompass animation and visualisation design, interaction and UX design, serious games design and visual communication.

It will also enable students to present their professional portfolios and projects to industry representatives and the community.

The exhibition will be officially opened by USC’s Head of the School of Communications and Creative Industries Professor Phil Graham, while graphic designer and USC graduate Lisa Lonergan will deliver a special address.

USC Art Gallery Manager Megan Williams said the annual Design students’ exhibition, which will be on display this year from 9 November to 8 December, was always popular.

“What is unique about the exhibition is that our students have creative control over how the exhibition looks and feels,” she said.

“It is always exciting to see how they apply the creative and analytical problem-solving skills they have honed through their degrees to the design and presentation of the exhibition.”

Dan Swift, a USC student and exhibition design team member, said Exhibition X was about forward thinking and futurism.

“It stems from the ideas of closing doors, finishing things off and the end of an era, but also the beginning of one: the future,” he said.

Design industry representatives are encouraged to attend the exhibition opening by registering online at www.usc.edu.au/art-gallery

USC Art Gallery is located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs. It is open free to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and is closed Sundays and public holidays.
