Thousands attend University's annual Open Day

Thousands of prospective students from across Queensland found out how they can ‘rise, and shine’ at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s annual Open Day on Sunday 22 July.

Many arrived early for the free event at USC’s main campus at Sippy Downs, which is held to give people all the information they need to make the most of their university experience.

Visitors were encouraged to inspect the campus – including some of USC’s state-of-the-art equipment – and chat one-on-one with academics about the wide range of study programs.

They sat in on real first-year lectures to see what university life is really like, attended information sessions about degrees and career opportunities, and watched a variety of panel discussions.

The most popular session of the day was a ‘Make the USC Experience work for you’ presentation that highlighted the many study, career, networking and social opportunities available at USC.

Other sessions included a ‘Careers of the Future’ forum that explained how people can prepare for jobs that don’t exist yet, and a ‘Please help me choose’ discussion that showed how to match personal interests, strengths and goals with study programs and careers.

To highlight the University’s strong ongoing commitment to the environment, USC presented each Open Day visitor with a reusable jute shopping bag and a cardboard carton of water.

For those who missed the Open Day, details about studying at USC are available online. The University also will hold a further Open Day event at its new campus at Tallon Street, Caboolture, on Sunday 5 August.
