Ambitious students ready to help others Meet USC

People interested in studying at USC in 2018 will hear the fascinating experiences of current students from a variety of degrees at a Meet USC event on Tuesday 14 November.

Meet USC gives prospective university students the chance to explore the Sunshine Coast campus at Sippy Downs and get all the information they need to make decisions about career pathways, program options and available support.

While a range of academic and professional staff will provide advice direct to students and their families, the event will also feature current student ambassadors outlining their own USC experiences.

The theme of the event, to be held from 2.30pm to 5pm, will be ‘Meet the Real Students of USC’.

Mitchell Tilly, 19, of Little Mountain, will explain how he found his niche in a Bachelor of Urban Design and Town Planning (Honours), after initially trying an Engineering course as a USC Headstart student while at high school.

“I found that town planning was a good bridge between engineering and the other things I was interested in, like design, business and communication,” said the second-year student.

Mitchell is already networking with employers and industry leaders in a role with the Sunshine Coast committee of the Planning Institute of Australia.

Jackson Dickfos, 21, will describe his journey as a 2013 North Lakes State College graduate who wanted to find the same camaraderie, as well as a career, through a university.

Jackson’s love of public speaking and desire to one day become a CEO prompted him to enrol in a USC Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Science.

USC Manager of Student Recruitment Courtney Geritz encouraged people of any age from across south-east Queensland to attend the Meet USC event to find out about studying at the University’s campuses, from Fraser Coast to Brisbane. Register here.
