Two USC academic leaders recognised by UK academy

Two of USC’s leaders in learning and teaching have been recognised as Principal Fellows of the United Kingdom’s Higher Education Academy (HEA).

Associate Professor of Marketing Maria Raciti from the School of Business and Dr Kylie Readman, Director of the Centre for the Support and Advancement of Learning & Teaching, were awarded the academy’s highest level of fellowship.

Eleven other USC staff also received HEA Fellowships in 2017, bringing the total number of HEA Fellows at USC to 23.

USC Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Birgit Lohmann said the HEA was highly regarded internationally for championing teaching quality in higher education.

Dr Raciti was awarded for her commitment and contribution to student learning, as a highly passionate teacher, leader and researcher in higher education and an advocate for equity and social justice. She co-leads USC’s Indigenous Studies Research Theme.

Dr Readman was awarded for her commitment to developing high quality curriculum and assessment practices, advancing the student experience, and her leadership of innovation in learning and teaching within the University and at the national level.

The six Senior Fellows are: Associate Professor of Nursing Patrea Andersen, academic developer Theresa Ashford and senior academic developer Dr Ruth Greenaway, Associate Professor of Art and Design Lisa Chandler, Senior Lecturer in Psychology Dr Geoff Lovell and Associate Professor of Nursing Jennifer Rowe.

The five HEA Fellows are: Lecturer in English and Creative Writing Dr Ginna Brock, Lecturer in Management Dr Wayne Graham, Associate Lecturer in Nursing Penny Harrison, Manager of Support for Learning in Student Engagement Dr Alison Jaquet and Lecturer in Bioscience Dr Nicole Masters.
