Donors who have funded University of the Sunshine Coast scholarships will have a chance to connect with the recipients at a special event on campus at Sippy Downs tomorrow, Thursday 22 September at 10.30am.
Dozens of USC students who have received a range of bursaries, scholarships and prizes will meet and mingle with the donors at an informal morning tea at USC’s Innovation Centre auditorium.
The event will also include a presentation by philanthropist and USC Foundation Board member Jocelyn Walker.
Business student Georgia Grayson, who was awarded a Renouf Family Scholarship and Zonta Bursary, will deliver a formal thanks on behalf on the recipients and discuss how her studies have been helped by the awards.
USC Development Office Director Russell Ousley said receiving a scholarship or bursary often made a significant difference to a student’s university experience.
“We wanted to make this a really meaningful event for both our donors and students,” he said.
“For the donors, it’s an opportunity to see that their funds do go to specific people and find out what the award has meant for those recipients. It gives our students a chance to say thank you and connect with the people behind their scholarships.
“Some amazing stories come out as we distribute scholarships and bursaries, and we want these benefactors to see the impact that their generosity has had.”
