USC holds events to celebrate day of diversity

The University of the Sunshine Coast will embrace diversity as it holds several events to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) tomorrow, Tuesday 17 May.

IDAHOT is an annual day to champion sexual and gender diversity and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people who identify as homosexual, bisexual or transgender.

Activities at USC will begin at 10am with a Market Day event in the Brasserie courtyard, including community information stalls, fun activities, live music and a free barbecue.

A discussion forum, ‘Personal Reflections’, will be held at the Brasserie stage between 11am and noon and students can also join in an IDAHOT group photo shoot at 1pm.

A big-screen twilight screening of the hit film Pride, starring Bill Nighy, will be held on the Brasserie lawn from 6pm.

Attendees are invited to bring a blanket and enjoy free popcorn while watching the movie.

USC will raise a rainbow flag for the day to show its commitment to being an inclusive campus.
