Graduating from the University of the Sunshine Coast was a special moment for the Engelbrecht brothers.
Originally from South Africa, Heinrich, 24, and Johann, 29, had been living in Bundaberg and Gympie respectively when they decided to pursue tertiary education at the same institution.
They were delighted to graduate together at a recent ceremony at USC’s main campus at Sippy Downs.
Heinrich, who gained a combined Bachelor of Business (International Business) and Bachelor of Science (Clinical Measurement), said he enjoyed the USC lifestyle while deciding on his future career.
“The challenge of a dual degree kept me focused on my studies and has provided me with a broad range of career choices,” said the 2009 Shalom Catholic College graduate who previously worked in labouring and sales.
“I aim to use the theory that I have learnt, especially in the business degree, to progress into a leadership role in management.”
Johann, currently working as a storeman, said he intended to use his Bachelor of Nutrition, majoring in Biomedical Science, to join the food industry and empower more people to adopt healthy eating habits.
The 2004 Cooloola Christian College graduate appreciated the close proximity of USC, its relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and the one-on-one availability of lecturers.
