More than $40,000 of bursaries, prizes and scholarships will be presented to some of the University of the Sunshine Coast’s best and brightest Engineering students at a special ceremony tomorrow (Wednesday, 24 August).

The 2016 USC Engineering Awards, to be held at USC’s impressive Engineering Visualisation Studio for the first time, will reward the academic efforts of 11 high-achieving students with prizes funded by a range of Sunshine Coast businesses and individuals.

The event will include the highly anticipated announcement of the winners of two major industry-funded awards valued at $9,000 and $10,000.

A number of students are in contention for the $10,000 Unitywater Engineering Scholarship, which includes paid vacation work and the opportunity to enter the Unitywater Graduate Program on completion of the USC degree.

The $9,000 WEIR Minerals Australia Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering will be awarded to a second-year Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering student.

Media are invited to attend the presentation ceremony, which will begin at 5.15pm at the Engineering Visualisation Studio in Building H2.

Other awards are: the Graham Tamblyn Scholarship in Engineering ($5,000); Les and Mary Hall Family Scholarship ($5,000); the GHD Scholarship in Civil Engineering ($5,000); the GHD Scholarship in Environmental Science; the Contour Consulting and UDIA Engineering Bursary ($2,000); the L.E.W. Mosel Prize in Engineering ($1,000); the Engineers Australia Sunshine Coast Prize ($500); the Mark and Susan Bradley Engineering Prize ($500) and the Australian Steel Institute Prize ($200).
