Study at USC Gympie over summer

It’s not too late in the year for Gympie region residents to start studying at uni.

Applications are still open for the University of the Sunshine Coast’s free Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) program at its Gympie campus for those who want to take the first steps towards a degree at USC during summer.

TPP subjects cover how to study and write academic essays, and focus on other skills required for tertiary education.

USC Gympie Manager Graham Young said USC was committed to offering people from Gympie and surrounding areas every opportunity to study.

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t have an OP or whether you even finished high school, TPP equips you with the skills you’ll need to start a degree,” he said.

“Successful completion of four TPP subjects will earn you entry into most USC degrees. You could do two subjects this summer, another two starting in March and be ready to start a university degree by July 2016.”

Applicants for TPP must be at least 17 years old. For more information about the TPP information event visit www.usc.edu.au/gympie or call 5456 5800.

The study options at USC Gympie have continued to expand. In addition to degrees in Business, Accounting, Primary Education, Early Childhood and Nursing Science, next year USC Gympie will offer first-year courses in Engineering, Science, Arts, Social Science, Psychology, Human Services, Counselling and Social Work.

For students who wish to study other degrees at USC’s main campus at Sippy Downs, a University shuttle bus operates daily during semester.

If you’re not ready to start studying just yet but want more information, come along to the Meet USC event on Thursday 3 December from 1pm to 5pm. More details are available at USC Gympie.
