Students get creative for new USC exhibition

Four high school students have been recognised as some of the region’s best young artistic talent.

The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art – Regional Exhibition 2015, which opened last week at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery, is showcasing the visual artwork of regional high school students from both state and non-state schools.

Four Excellence awards were presented at the opening night, which was attended by 260 people including students, families, principals and school staff.

Creative Generation gives students an opportunity to have their work displayed in a professional gallery environment, as well as allowing the community to see some of the best artistic talent coming out of the region’s schools.

The Excellence award winners were:

• Matthew Harvey (Bray Park State High School) for Unharnessed

• Mia Johnstone (Matthew Flinders Anglican College) for The Unknown

• Madelyn Rabnott (Matthew Flinders Anglican College) for Perceptions

• Jade Luscombe (Chancellor State College) for The Unknown

The exhibition, supported by USC since 2002, is presented in association with the Queensland Government Department of Education, Training and Employment and Art Shed Brisbane/School Art Supplies.

It will run until Saturday 12 September and school groups are encouraged to visit.

The gallery is located at the USC campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs. It is open free to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. The Gallery is closed Sundays and public holidays.
