USC will stage four graduation ceremonies next week, with crowds totalling 4,300 people expected to attend.

Almost 800 graduands will gown up for the formal occasions, two of which will be held on Thursday 16 April for the Faculty of Arts and Business and the other two on Friday 17 April for the Faculty of Science, Health, Education and Engineering.

The ceremonies in USC’s Sports Stadium will feature academic processions, the presentation of medals for outstanding academics and students, and the presentation of honorary awards.

Honorary Senior Fellowships will go to Mooloolaba GP Dr Peter Welsh, former Matthew Flinders Anglican College principal Anthony Vincent and philanthropist David Kirk, while an Honorary Doctorate will be awarded to scientist Emeritus Professor Peter Andrews AO.

USC Chancellor John Dobson OAM will confer degrees and certificates on more than 1,200 graduands in total.

Graduation addresses will be delivered by award recipients at each ceremony. They are:

• Mooloolaba general practitioner Dr Peter Welsh at the midday ceremony on Thursday 16 April;
• TV news presenter and USC journalism academic Rosanna Natoli at the 5pm ceremony on Thursday 16 April;
• Former Matthew Flinders Anglican College principal Anthony Vincent at the midday ceremony on Friday 17 April; and
• Scientist and bio-entrepreneur Emeritus Professor Peter Andrews AO at the 5pm ceremony on Friday 17 April.

All four events will be video-streamed live on the USC website at www.usc.edu.au/graduation
