What's up with climate change?
Global Climate Change Week (GCCW) aims to encourage academic communities – including university academics, students and staff – in all disciplines and countries to engage with each other, their communities and policy makers on climate change action and solutions.
In 2019, UniSC students, staff and academics engaged intellectually, emotionally and creatively with the wicked problem of climate change through workshops, presentations, creative performance, infographics and short films.
The 2019 GCCW program provided opportunities to connect with several themes under the banner of ‘What’s up with climate change?’ and was designed with the goals of demonstrating the diverse nature of the drivers of climate change and highlighting constructive responses.
The initiative was supported and sponsored by Professor Joanne Scott, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement).
Student competition
As part of GCCW in 2019, UniSC ran a competition inviting all students to show what THEY thought was 'up with climate change' in four different categories (short films, infographics, spoken word poetry/flash fiction and student project talks). Students' work and outputs were showcased during Global Climate Change Week and celebrated at the 'What's up with climate change?' Gala on Friday 18 October.
