Dr Evanthie Michalena

Adjunct Associate Professor

Dr Evanthie Michalena has specialised in energy and sustainable energy policies and approaches since 1993. Her research focuses on all aspects that can influence international energy governance and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Her research aims to discover how energy policy approaches are changing, depending on geographical and political influences. Evanthie was awarded a national scholarship from the Hellenic State (Greece) to accomplish her PhD research (in the Geography Department in the Sorbonne University, France) and a Marie-Curie International European Fellowship from the European Commission to pursue post-doctoral research. She is also an Adjunct Professor in Fiji University, a Senior Research Associate in Sorbonne University, France and in Aegean University, Greece. Evanthie is also a reviewer for established academic journals such as Nature. Evanthie is also assisting the European Commission in the evaluation of proposals under numerous energy and environmental Calls. as an EC Expert, and is appointed at the Special Advisor (Secretariat) for the Hellenic Regulator for Energy (RAE), Greece, where she now works on the monitoring of the Greek electricity market with an emphasis on sustainable energy and energy efficiency. She is fluent in English, French and Greek and can read reports in Italian as well. She has worked with international organisations such as United Nations (UN) and Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and has offered (and continues offering) her consulting and academic services to more than 80 countries around the world.
