Associate Professor Katherine Warner

Dr. Katherine (Kadi) Warner joined SRC in 2017 when she transitioned to the Sunshine Coast from the World Resources Institute (WRI) in Washington D.C. where she was the Regional Senior Expert for Environment and Climate Change. Seconded by WRI to the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, she was posted for over 4 years in the Netherlands embassy in Kampala, Uganda and in this role guided the successful integration of climate change into the Dutch development programs in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Asia and served on the Ministry’s climate team for policies and programs. Since joining SRC Kadi has been providing technical assistance to development programs and research institutions on integrating climate change into strategies, programs, monitoring and evaluation. She is also engaged in providing support to biodiversity and community forestry initiatives on rights, gender and benefit sharing. Kadi is a recognized expert in natural resource management, with in-depth experience in community forestry and community based-natural resource, wetlands, integrated watershed management.

Qualifications

PhD (Ecological Anthropology), University of Hawaii; Certificate of Population Studies, Population Institute, East West Center; Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology), University of Hawaii.
