Emeritus Professor (April 2023)
In recognition of her distinguished career in academia and higher education, Meredith Lawley is a worthy recipient of the honorary award of Emeritus Professor of the University of the Sunshine Coast in April 2023.
Meredith Lawley’s involvement with UniSC started in 1995 when she was invited to be on interview panels for Faculty of Business staff prior to UniSC opening in 1996. Since then, she has made sustained contributions to UniSC in relation to leadership in teaching and research in addition to significant contributions to management and community engagement.
Since commencing work at UniSC in 2001 Meredith has continuously played key roles in management at both School and University level, most recently as Acting Head of School, Deputy Chair of Academic Board and Chair of the Student Academic Appeals Committee.
Meredith established her leadership with International postgraduate programs by being involved in the initial establishment and ongoing management of the MBA program with Renmin University in China and the PhD pathway program with the University of Salzburg Business School.
Meredith won a 2012 Australian Award for University Teaching for sustained excellence in research supervision of a diverse range of doctoral students. She mentored several Business academic staff in HDR supervision, who are now successfully supervising their own HDR students.
Meredith has developed strong community links throughout her career at Uni SC. Notably, she was an invited member of the Sunshine Coast Council Food and Agribusiness Task Force which resulted in the establishment of the Food and Agribusiness Network and she continues to be invited to conduct research for Food and Agribusiness Network into food and agribusiness.
