Everald Compton was named an Honorary Senior Fellow for his direct and ongoing involvement in the National Seniors Productive Ageing Centre at USC. The Centre is a direct result of Everald’s vision to advance research and, through this, the development of innovative policies and programs to promote productive lifestyle options for all seniors. The Federal Government has recognised this as a clear social need, in addition to the ongoing commitment and services provided for seniors in poor health. The Government, National Seniors and this University have all provided funding and expertise to support the establishment of the Centre. Arguably one of Australia’s best recognised and most successful professional fund raisers, Everald received the Order of Australia in 1992 for services to the community in this field. He organised over 1000 Campaigns in 25 nations, raising a staggering $500 million. Everald has also written a number of books, including ‘The Generosity of Profit’ and ‘The Power Gift’ and chaired many boards, including the National Seniors Association of Australia and Australian Inland Rail Expressway. He also founded the Compton Gardens Retirement Communities in Brisbane and Caboolture, and was Director of the Australian Sports Foundation from 1993-1996.
