Emeritus Professor (April 2012)
Dr Andrew Hede was named an Emeritus Professor in April 2012 in recognition of his contributions to education, academic leadership, and sustained and distinguished service.
Professor Andrew (Andy) Hede played a key role in the early development of the University as the foundation Dean of the Faculty of Business from 1996 to 2000 at which time he became Professor of Management until his retirement in 2011. Professor Hede has published widely with over 45 peer reviewed journals and 25 refereed conference presentations and supervised six PhD Students to completion. Professor Hede successfully established very strong links between the University and local businesses and industry through the creation of strategic alliances, business seminars, sponsorships for University scholarships, and research funding. He also established strong links with the local, national and international community through membership of professional bodies and associated committees, refereeing for national and international journals, and consultancies and grants with industry and government. Professor Hede played a key role in the advising on, and facilitating the acquisition of, art for the University, including serving as the Chair of the Vice-Chancellor's Art Advisory Committee and providing outstanding support of the University's Art Gallery. His actions have contributed to the growth of a quality art collection and he has facilitated the donation of some very significant artworks to the University as well as making generation art donations to the University from his private collection.
