UniSC Diversity Pledge

Your commitment as a member of the UniSC Community 

UniSC is committed to the highest quality of teaching, learning and research by engaging with local, national and international communities in the most inclusive and beneficial manner.

When we harness this diversity through our staff, students and community partnerships, we propel creativity, innovation and initiative, which in turn strengthens our intellectual capital.

It is not enough for us to reflect diversity; we each need to choose to be inclusive in our behavior and actions.

By taking the pledge you are committing to advocating for, and where possible requiring, gender and diversity balance at all forums. We seek to provide access and opportunities for all students and staff in culturally relevant, inclusive and responsible ways so we can build on existing exchanges of knowledge and community capacity with a focus on listening to people from under-represented groups.

The UniSC Diversity Pledge is your commitment to the following:

Diversity brings in new ideas and experiences, and people can learn from each other. Bringing in different ideas and perspectives leads to not only better problem-solving but also working in diverse teams. Which in return opens dialogue and promotes creativity. The value of diversity is significantly exponential for our culture. Meeting, living and working with people who are different makes us more likely to be exposed to new ideas and new ways of thinking. Mixing with people of different backgrounds and life experiences brings us to question why we are doing things the way we do. It forces a questioning of values and beliefs.
