Role
Shay arranges and supports field education placements for Social Work students, liaising between students, agencies and the university. Placements provide students with opportunities to engage and develop Social Work knowledge, values, theories and skills in practice settings.
Shay is an experienced Social Worker, passionate about engaging meaningfully and supporting positive change processes that are emancipatory, effective and sustainable.
Prior to working in Social Work education, Shay’s professional practice has been in community organisations, working with complex issues relating to women’s health and homelessness. This includes working with young women experiencing homelessness, working with pregnant and parenting young women, and working with women, families and communities around choices for pregnancy and birth.
Shay Collins' specialist areas of knowledge include work based placements, workplace learning requirements, social work supervision, social work
