Nicolette Bannink

Nicolette Bannink has an extensive clinical nursing experience in acute medical, AIDS, high dependency (neurosurgery), surgical including; plastics, ENT, ophthalmology, maxillary facial, general surgical, gynaecology, IVF, paediatrics and adolescents. She has worked in and run a recovery unit. Nicolette has experience in palliative care and community palliative care and practice nursing. This vast practical knowledge of nursing in various settings has provided her with an understanding and working knowledge of opportunities, constraints and limitations that may be faced when working in both tertiary and community nursing roles.

Nicolette completed a Graduate Certificate in Nursing (General Practice) and tutored for this course, providing distance education for graduate nursing students around the country. She has completed a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice through USC. Since 2010 she has taught many of the undergraduate nursing courses and also worked as a research assistant on the Care Coordination through Emergency Department, Residential Aged Care and primary Health Collaboration (CEDRiC) project which was awarded the 2017 Queensland Premiers Award. Her responsibility was to develop the Toolkits for CEDRiC and the Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention (GEDI) arm of the project.

Nicolette enjoys teaching in the various courses of the undergraduate program and is student focused, providing innovative ways to engage the students. She continues to have an interest in primary health care, palliative care and student engagement.
