Melissa Innes joined the School of Business and Creative Industries in August 2016. Her PhD, entitled Exploring the lived experience of Individual Foresight in organisations will be submitted for examination in April 2023. Melissa intends to apply her IF research to social network actors in Alternative Food Networks (AFNs). She believes that knowledge creation and sharing among AFN members within and across regions as a result of IF builds capability in organisations - contributing to effective strategies aimed at enhancing efficiency. With a strong interest and prioritisation of sustainable food systems (aligned with SDGs 2, 12, 13, 15) Melissa’s research aligns with UniSC’s Research Impact Strategy to benefit regional AFNs, whilst contributing significantly to global food sustainability research outcomes.
In terms of academic achievement, Melissa graduated with distinction from a Bachelor of Business majoring in Management (with a Human Resource Management minor) from QUT in 1999 and was offered lifetime membership to the Golden Key International Honors Society. She was also a recent recipient of an international Erasmus scholarship facilitating a teaching exchange in Germany in 2023. Melissa takes pride in being Course Coordinator for one of the School of Business and Creative Industries’ largest first year undergraduate courses – Discovering Management. She believes the key purpose of teaching is to inspire a passion in learners to desire greater knowledge; leading to an enriched quality of life, nourished by an innate enthusiasm to source, master and share new knowledge with others.
