Jill Penridge joined USC as Manager, Research Legal as part of the senior leadership team within the Office of Research in February 2022. Her aim is to develop and lead a responsive legal function that facilitates the immediate needs of USC researchers, while simultaneously supporting the long-term research aspirations of USC. Jill applies a human-centric approach to processes and systems and seeks to remove complexity in contracting transactions to provide USC’s research partners with a commercially satisfying experience.
Prior to joining USC, Jill worked in the Australian higher education sector for over 12 years, gaining considerable experience in a large, research-intensive university. She has also worked in private legal practice firms, mainly focusing on commercial contracts, intellectual property, IT and property transactions.
In former roles as a General Manager, Jill supported Directors of research institutes through operational management of resources and relationships integral to the day-to-day delivery of academic research. She supported academic research teams in a wide range of disciplines, including cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, bioengineering and nanotechnology. Prior to this, Jill advised a large, research-intensive university as Senior Legal Counsel with a specialist focus on transactions relating to research.
