Yingyan (Lisa) Chen

Dr Lisa Chen, a cardiac nurse, is a lecturer in School of Health. She is an early career researcher with her PhD conferred in 2019 from Griffith University. Lisa’s PhD evaluated the implementation of same-day discharge following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), including cardiac rehabilitation findings for those patients either sent home the same day or stayed overnight. Her PhD study has been recognised by Queensland Health and selected as the first exemplar for the Magnet-designated health service in Gold Coast Health in Australia.

Lisa is passionate about cardiovascular research, including disease prevention, in hospital settings, and beyond discharge, using both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Her other research interests and expertise include knowledge translation, hospital services redesign, the introduction of new models of care, and change management. She is committed to bridging the “know-do” gap between the best available evidence and clinical practice and improving the short- and long-term outcomes of patients with cardiovascular disease. Currently, she is leading three projects, one of which involves researchers and clinicians across different institutions and hospitals to promote state-wide use of same-day PCI.
