Sarah Bajan

Dr Sarah Bajan completed her PhD at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression, University of Dundee. Sarah moved to Australia in 2012, as a post-doctoral research fellow in the School of Biomedical Engineering, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Her PhD and post-doctoral work focused on elucidating molecular mechanisms of miRNA-mediated regulation of gene expression.

In January 2020, Sarah joined the School of Health and Behavioural Science at UniSC as a Lecturer in Biomedical Science. Sarah is still passionate about the many functions of non-coding RNAs and how they contribute to human health and disease. Sarah is also researching the suitability of genetic markers to authenticate natural food products.

Research areas

  • non-coding RNAs in the regulation of gene expression
  • miRNAs in wound healing
  • genetic markers for food authentication

Available for guest lectures in biochemistry, molecular biology and RNA biology.
