Kayleen Wood

Dr Kayleen Wood is an Academic Developer with UniSC's Centre for Support and Advancement of Learning and Teaching (C-SALT).

After spending many years as an accounting professional, Kayleen came to higher education with a passion for teaching and learning in a relatable, memorable, and useful way. Her teaching style is inclusive, providing content and learning design in higher education using a flipped delivery pedagogy model with a social constructivist focus, where students discover and build on their own understanding of the world. She does this by combining her knowledge, experience, and skills to research and build holistic learning-centred programs to actively engage students in learning activities that allow them to demonstrate their learning.

Kayleen has worked in the higher education sector for over a decade and has taught in a range of higher education contexts from large first year undergraduate foundational courses in business and entrepreneurship, through to final year advanced electives and post-graduate courses within the discipline of accounting and finance.

Currently Kayleen is the Course Coordinator, Foundations of University Teaching, a post-graduate, credit-bearing course introducing staff to the areas of pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and feedback, and higher education teaching and learning scholarship. Kayleen’s work in this area is complemented by her research interests: learner engagement in, and performance of, technical threshold concepts through gamified learning experiences; the development of a gamification alignment table and model for learning design, and the eLearningGameFlow survey.
