Dr Alison Craswell has more than 20 years clinical experience in nursing with a clinical background in paediatrics, midwifery and neonatal nursing.

As a Senior Research Fellow, Alison is working in collaboration with Caboolture hospital to build capacity in clinical staff, their research skills and outputs. Project manager of the successful CEDRiC project and Twitter@CEDRICProject, (Care coordination through Emergency Department, Residential Aged Care and Primary Health Collaboration), Alison’s research has impact. The resultant Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention (GEDI) is recognised as improving acute care of older adults and is being translated into Emergency Departments across Queensland by the State Government.

Streams of research include: Health Services Research - acute care of older adults, emergency department models of care for older people. Health Informatics - evaluating nurses workflows with medication administration and iEMR to improve the ways nurses work technology; and Vascular Access - Peripheral IV tertiary education, peripheral intravenous catheter management in childbirth, central venous access in renal dialysis. Alison is a member of the AVATAR group, Alliance for Vascular Access Teaching and Research.

Alison teaches in the Masters of Nursing, Clinical Leadership, as well as supervising several coursework projects in areas such as Emergency Department (ED) presentations and End of Life care in the ED. HDR supervisions are in the areas of Health Informatics, Health Services Research and Qualitative methodologies.
