UniSC Pasifka Association stall at Orientation week

UniSC Pasifika Association

Bringing Pasifika students together:
Creating community, opportunities and possibilities.

UniSC Pasifika Association is a student-led initiative, developed by Pasifika students for Pasifika students - with the support of the Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research (ACPIR) and the Moreton Bay Student Liaison Group (MB SLG).

We aim to empower and support Pasifika students during their university studies by creating a safe, diverse, inclusive group of like-minded Pasifika students, friends and mentors. We host regular member meetings along with social and cultural sharing and networking events. We also help students navigate the university experience by organising mentoring, workshops with learning advisors and more, depending on the support required.

The Pasifika Association vision:
  • Engage, support and advocate for undergraduate and graduate Pasifika students.
  • Foster ideas and collaboration between Pasifika students and non-Pasifika students interested in research and practice relating to the Pacific Islands and peoples.
  • Create academic and professional development opportunities for Pasifika students through social, cultural, and academic events.
  • Host and promote academic and social events to strengthen the Pasifika undergraduate and graduate community at UniSC.
  • Strengthen relationships between the Pasifika and non-Pasifika communities.
  • Support and encourage Pasifika students and community members to undertake further study.
