Before you submit your application to UniSC, you should make yourself familiar with the following:
You can find detailed program information on the program page of the program you wish to enrol in.
You can also find out more about tuition fees, and the potential for them to change.
UniSC's refund policy and the amounts that may or not be repaid to you in the event of a cancellation are outlined in the Student Fees, Charges and Refunds - Procedures
UniSC's main campus is UniSC Sunshine Coast in Sippy Downs.
Other campus locations include UniSC Moreton Bay, UniSC Caboolture, UniSC Fraser Coast and UniSC Gympie.
A study hub is located at UniSC's Thompson Institute. Find out more about our study locations, campuses and facilities.
Prior to commencement
If you have, or plan to apply for a Student visa, you have the option to apply for deferral of your start date in exceptional circumstances and before the start date shown on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). In order for your application for deferral to be considered, you must be able to demonstrate compassionate and compelling circumstances. Your application will then be re-assessed for commencement on the deferred start date and, if approved, you will be provided with a new letter of offer and written agreement. The change to your enrolment will be reported to the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA).
If you cancel your enrolment prior to commencement, your CoE will also be cancelled and the change to your enrolment status will be reported to DOHA.
If you would like to defer or vary your study prior to commencement you can make these changes via the online application portal.
After you commenced
There are limited circumstances where a student's enrolment may be deferred or temporarily suspended. These are outlined in the National Code 2018 and include
- compassionate or compelling circumstances, or
- misbehaviour by the student
A deferral or suspension of study may affect the validity of your Student visa.
In the event USC intends to suspend or cancel a student's enrolment, where that suspension or cancellation is not initiated by the student, USC will notify the student that they have 20 working days to access USC's internal appeals process.
If the student accesses the appeals process, the enrolment will not be suspended or cancelled until the internal appeals process is completed.
Instances where USC may initiate a cancellation to a student's enrolment may include
- Failure to make payment of fees as requested by USC. Refer to the Student Fees, Charges and Refunds - Procedure
- Failure to maintain satisfactory academic progress. Refer to Monitoring Academic Progress - Procedure
- Student Misconduct - Procedures
The ESOS Act is Commonwealth legislation that all providers who offer programs to international Student visa holders need to adhere to. This protects international students by ensuring they are accessing a consistent and quality educational experience. You can view a description of the ESOS framework here.
Make sure you have reviewed important information about living in Australia, including
- Living in Australia and the local areas
- Other study and living costs
- Accommodation options - for study locations other than Sippy Downs or South Bank refer to the Start at USC guide
- Your obligations regarding schooling if you have school aged children
To ensure your application is on time, check the academic calendar and other important dates.
There are also other important USC policies and procedures, as well as information about the ESOS Act and your Student visa you should make yourself familiar with before submitting an application.
